Camp Hebron Foundation Parent Organization
Since 1972 Camp Hebron Foundation has been serving undeserved,
disadvantaged youth on the Delmarva Peninsula and fresh air children
up and down the Atlantic Seaboard.
The creation of an Arts Forum; a Centre of culture and arts would create opportunities for youth to explore both the arts and creative sciences. Partnering with other local and regional arts programs for greater enhancement of The Centre's programs as well as member services.
Concept
The concept of an art forum(local resident artist program) is based on the need to add additional opportunity for cultural stimulus in other art venues and awareness of the creative sciences at work elsewhere on the peninsula.
There is the need to break the cycle of youth being confined to the television set, sports, crime, and other things that could create troubled areas for our youth.
Many of our young people have little or no travel opportunities outside of their local communities. The opportunity to exposure the arts would be a welcome deterrent as well as a valuable service to the area.
The use of two circuit buses would make this way of travel possible, and convenient not only to Sussex County, but to the neighboring areas as well. The development of our public transportation system will make our programs more accessible to youth.
THE CENTRE PROGRAMS
1. To create and develop interests in the arts and creative sciences, on a local,
community, and regional cities and communities. Establishing a place for all
walks of life (cultures) will want to become involved in making the center a social
meeting place for everyone.
2. To develop activities that will bring artists to Western Sussex, who might not
have had an interest to come before due to limited artist venues. Our goal is to
expose youth to the opportunity to be mentor by all art forms
3. To establish a magnet school to teach the arts to people of all ages throughout the area.
OBJECTIVES:
To increase the awareness of the arts and stimulate tourism by providing studio space for the artists who live in the area, and bring in artists to western Sussex
from the nearby surrounding areas in a resident artist program.
METHODOLOGY:
1. Publish the purpose of the art Centre in quarterly newsletter.
2. Establish bus routes and scheduling to encourage locals participation.
3. Coordinate scheduling of foster grandparents.
4. Establish trip schedules for weekly, monthly and annual art tours.
5. Establish Resident Artist Studio Space and Gallery to promote artist work.
6. Contract Foster Grandparent Program to foster senior participation.
7. Use published schedules from all art leagues (programs) on the peninsula.
8. Offer tours to nearby major cities (i.e'. Annapolis, Baltimore, Washington,
Philadelphia, etc.)
9. Collaborate with other community groups/organizations to promote the arts.
EVALUATION:
Conduct opinion polls, surveys, develop other techniques to foster public comments. Evaluation/Visitation of Delaware Art Leagues and Colleges, Universities art classes on the peninsula (student participation/evaluation). Getting the public's feedback on what they feel would be helpful in making the art center a success.
CONCLUSION:
To provide a place for not only our youth to go, but also for everyone, young and
old to visit and see just how much talent the Sussex County area has to offer.
Creating community; a place to be proud of, no matter if you are a participant or a spectator.
